Terms of use

1. Who we are

This website is run by the Association for the International Distribution of Medical Devices (AIDMD), a non-profit association under Articles 60 ff. of the Swiss Civil Code, Château du Rosey, 1180 Rolle, Switzerland. Email: connect@aidmdch.org.

Visiting this website does not bind you to anything. These terms apply when you donate, pledge or send us a form: you accept them by ticking the box before you send it. The notices about the information on this site, links and our name and logo (sections 2, 7 and 8) apply to everyone.

2. Information on this website

The content of this website is general information about AIDMD and its work. It is not medical, legal, financial or tax advice, and it is not an offer to supply any device or service. We take care to keep it accurate, and figures about the wider problem link to their published sources, but we do not guarantee that the information is complete, current or free of errors. Descriptions of how we work state our process and standards; they are not a warranty about any particular device.

3. Donations

  • Donations are voluntary gifts. They do not entitle you to any goods, services, consideration or say in how AIDMD is run.
  • How funds are used. AIDMD decides how to use donations within its purpose as set out in its statutes. A donation is tied to a specific project or condition only if this has been agreed in writing and signed by AIDMD's committee.
  • Donations are final. Swiss law gives no right to cancel an online payment, and donations are not refundable. If you were charged by mistake, for example twice, tell us within 30 days and we will correct it. Other refunds are at AIDMD's sole discretion.
  • Monthly donations continue until you cancel them. Write to us at any time; no further payments are taken once we have confirmed the cancellation.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe under Stripe's own terms. AIDMD does not see or store your card details and is not responsible for the payment provider's service.
  • Tax. AIDMD does not currently issue tax receipts. Do not assume a donation is tax-deductible.
  • Large gifts. Online donations are limited to CHF 10,000. Larger gifts are accepted only after a written agreement with AIDMD.
  • Our right to decline. We may refuse or return a donation, for example if its source or conditions are unclear or conflict with our purpose or the law.

When online payments are unavailable, a pledge made through this website is a statement of intent only. It is not a payment and creates no obligation for you or for AIDMD.

4. Equipment offers

  • Sending us details of equipment creates no obligation for either side. We may decline any offer without giving reasons.
  • Any donation of equipment is agreed separately and in writing, including ownership, condition, transport and costs.
  • By offering equipment, you confirm that you own it or are entitled to give it away.

5. No partnership or agency

Nothing on this website creates a partnership, joint venture, agency or employment relationship. Organisations are described as partners only where a written agreement exists.

6. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AIDMD, its committee members and volunteers are not liable for any direct or indirect loss arising from the use of this website, from reliance on its content, from links to other websites, from interruptions or errors, or from the payment provider's service. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory Swiss law.

7. Links to other websites

We link to sources and other organisations for information. We do not control their content and are not responsible for it.

8. Name, logo and content

The AIDMD name, logo and texts belong to the association and may not be used to suggest an endorsement without our written consent. Photos are licensed stock images, listed on our photo credits page; they do not show AIDMD's own work, staff, patients or partners.

9. Changes

We may update these terms at any time. The version you accepted when you donated or sent a form applies to it.

10. Law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Swiss law. Courts in the canton of Vaud have jurisdiction, except where mandatory law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere, for example as a consumer at your place of residence. If any clause is invalid, the rest remains in force.
